ContentM Webpage Design
This workshop will teach faculty and staff the basics on how to create their personal and departmental webpages.

The File Management Workshop will cover the topics listed below:

  • Safe storage of files in the School of Architecture servers and other alternative storage devices
  • Use of the Z: drive and other SAUD storage areas that are automatically backed up by the School of Architecture server
  • Remote access of files stored in School of Architecture servers
  • File naming conventions

Note: Each faculty and staff who registers for this workshop will receive a free USB key

Graphics Foundation
In coordination with Instructional Development Support (IDS), this workshop is mostly taught by Cole Robison. More information about this workshop is provided in the
IDS website.

Introduction to Email Management
This workshop will focus on Outlook file archiving. The differences among Outlook, Webmail and OWA usage will also be discussed.

Introduction to Microsoft Word
Designed for someone who has never used the Microsoft Word software before, this workshop will show Microsoft Word’s most basic features such as creating a document, familiarizing with the toolbar, using the spell checker, saving, opening and printing a document.

Introduction to Photoshop

Introduction to Photoshop Presentation File

In coordination with Instructional Development Support (IDS), this workshop will be taught by Jeff Lewis.  This is a 3-hour workshop that will cover the basics of this software in addition to a class exercise. More information may be viewed in the
IDS website.

Introduction to Powerpoint
This workshop will show you how you may create a slide show presentation by using the following basic techniques: designing a slide, rearranging slides, using graphics and texts, saving, editing, opening, displaying and printing a presentation. 

Intermediate Photoshop

In coordination with Instructional Development Support (IDS), this 3-hour, exercise intensive workshop will be taught by Jeff Lewis.  You will learn the following in this workshop:

  • Advanced/precise pixel selection techniques using paths and masks
  • Work with gradient fill tool
  • Add text to images using the Type Mask Tool
  • Apply filters to modify images

Intermediate Powerpoint
This workshop will provide training on advanced Powerpoint commands. Topics will include: text and graphics animation, slide transitions and timings.

How to Access Personal SAUD, Project Server and Global Exchange files from any computer through Secure Remote Access (SRA)

This workshop will provide the steps to the computer user with an SAUD account to access their files stored in Vitruvius, Project Server and Global Exchange from any computer. This allows file access at your convenience and at any location.

SmartBoard, Sympodium and SynchronEyes
This workshop will focus on the following useful softwares for small and large group presentations:

  • Used in both SMART Board interactive whiteboards and Sympodium interactive lecterns, the SMART Notebook is a software that has the fol lowing features: text formatting; page organization, resize or rotate and drag and drop of objects; file attachment; file sharing; insert images or backgrounds from the Gallery; and print multiple Notebook pages on a single sheet.
  • The Sympodium interactive pen displays work like a drawing program. It’s interactive screen connects to your computer and a projector that shows the images created by the Smartboard pens and eraser. Using the attached pen, you simply touch the screen to control applications, draw images and write notes. With a projector displaying this image o, your audience can easily follow along. 
  • SynchronEyes is a computer lab instruction program that gives you the power to manage your classroom, guide learning and interact with students. It’s features allow you to view student screens from your desktop, chat with individuals or groups, lock computers, control them remotely, or block games, applications and the Internet.

SmartBoard Whiteboard
This workshop will provide the basics on how to use a portable interactive whiteboard that turns your computer and projector into a powerful tool for teaching, collaborating and presenting. The SMART Board interactive whiteboard features an electronic ink that may be used to highlight important information, write notes, draw diagrams and illustrate ideas.

Successfully Presenting an Architectural Design
Learn pointers from a practicing architect on how to present your projects. In preparation for April and May final juries. This workshop will show you how to present your projects in front of jury critics and future clients.
