The Chair of Architecture reports to the Dean of the School of Architecture and Urban Design
and is responsible for planning and directing undergraduate and graduate programs in architecture
at the Lawrence campus of the University of Kansas, the Edwards Campus, the Kansas City
Urban Design Studio, and foreign study programs. The Chair provides vision and intellectual
leadership to the faculty, staff and students in the architecture program. The Chair prepares
annual and periodic accreditation reports and represents the architecture program in regional and
national professional and academic associations. The Chair is responsible for the recruitment,
development and mentoring of faculty and staff within the architecture program. The Chair
manages the architecture program office and staff and administers the annual program budget.
The Chair promotes the teaching, research and service missions of the programs in architecture
and is responsible for the maintenance and development of the various architectural curricula.
The Chair, in the capacity as a tenured Associate/Full Professor of Architecture teaches, conducts
research and provides service to the extent allowed by administrative duties.
