Version: 10.19.2004

Policy Name: General Computer Use Policy

Policy Purpose: To define the General Computer Use Policy

Scope: Students in the Professional Architecture Programs

Policy:
All computing equipment purchased via State Funding or Other approved funding through the University of Kansas, School of Architecture and Urban Design, is to be classified as the property of the University of Kansas, School of Architecture and is subject to any and all general use guidelines as laid out in the University Handbook for students and faculty / staff.

Specifically the equipment and technology related to the equipment is for use solely by the faculty / staff and students of the KU School of Architecture and Urban Design and its affiliates as approved by the school administration.  Equipment is not to be used for personal gain but rather its intended use is for classes, projects and research related activities supported by the school.

In the event that a funded research activity excessively and thus exclusively uses any type of equipment a recommendation will be made to the administration that the instructor or student using the equipment in the funded study make use of the funding for the project to purchase appropriate equipment for their project so as not to exclude the use of centrally funded equipment from the central use of the school as a whole.

Documentation on the overall University Policy regarding the use of University owned equipment and property can be found in the University Student Handbook.
